A hot and sunny, June Soulful Shoot in Southsea, Portsmouth with Amy Watt, a Career & Life Coach for senior communications professionals.
I always love it when I get to shoot in a new place outside of London, and Portsmouth was no exception as I’d never been before. I arrived the night before and wolfed down the obligatory fish & chips since I was near the sea!
Amy had got in touch with me because she needed a whole set of personal branding images for her growing coaching business. She wanted to be more visible online, get across her personality in the photos and also show her professional, approachable side to attract the right kind of clients.
Amy founded her business ‘Megawatt Coaching’ four years ago after training as a coach, and with a background in comms decided to specialise in supporting other comms professionals. She noticed there were a lot of unhappy people working in the sector, with very little coaching support on offer. Amy had found her niche! Also trained as a yoga teacher, Amy loves connecting people to themselves and others so her coaching is a blend of mindful and spiritual techniques too.
We had the perfect weather for our brand shoot, perhaps a little too hot, but we started early and headed to The Southsea Deli for working shots of Amy with some ‘clients’ (her lovely friend & partner stepped into the roles perfectly).
We’d initially created a Pinterest moodboard, sharing lots of images so had a good idea of the variety of shots we needed to capture throughout the day… including working shots, beach, nature, yoga, professional headshots, home and family.
A quick trip to Southsea Beach (and an icecream!), followed by some portraits amongst the trees and any shady spots we could find in a local park. Home for a quick tasty lunch followed by some working from home photos, in between entertaining Amy’s daughter who quickly became obsessed with my camera and even put on her best dress for some photos! Very cute, and she was so exhausted after all the hype she fell asleep on the sofa!
Next up a few yoga poses in Amy’s kitchen, portraits in the garden and a few more in the park beside her house. Phew! What a day… we crammed in a lot, but I love the results and I think Amy does too!
